4Day 04"Aswan Sightseeing
Breakfast : Breakfast buffet on board . High Dam: The dam's construction began in 1960 and was completed in 1968. It was, however, officially inaugurated in 1971. The total investment for constructing the dam reached $1bn.With a reservoir capacity of 132 cubic kilometers, the Aswan High Dam provides water for about 33,600km of irrigation land. Philae Temple:It is devoted to the two goddesses Isis and Hathor, Philae was originally located near the expansive First Cataract of the Nile in Upper Egypt and was the site of an Egyptian temple complex. These rapids and the surrounding area have been variously flooded since the initial construction of the Aswan Low Dam in 1902. The temple complex was later dismantled and relocated to nearby Agilkia Island Unfinished Obelisk: Next we proceed to the Granite Quarries , which supplied the ancient Egyptians with most of the hard stone used in pyramids and temples , and still hold a huge unfinished obelisk .
